Discuss the basic purpose waiting line models. Then, discuss several advantages and disadvantages of waiting line modeling and clearly explain the reasons for your choices.
A waiting line model which is also known as a queue model is developed in order to help the service industry take into account the best possible use of their structure and functions in order to determine if there is an optimal service level provided when there is a queue. It enables us the understanding of the metrics such as queue processing, single and multi-server structure and if we are under the required service level to attain an optimal quality.
In simple terms, queue theory involves the study of the queues and its determination by values such as statistics and probability.
The advantages include:-
A proper understanding of our current structure and how jobs are processed.
Mathematically represent the queues with an easier approach utilizing poison an exponential distribution which is something that is not possible visually.
The disadvantages include:-
The observations can be considered to be irrational in the sense that they can almost never happen in the real world sense.
It takes human behavior to be deterministic which is something that can never be predicted.
