Develop a detailed selection plan for this position. In this case, you should determine what you want to measure by analyzing KSAOs from the job description and the information on organizational culture in the case, and fitting the selection measures into the plan format as shown in exhibit 8.2 in the book. The current selection methods are the experience check, education check, Marshfiled Applicant Exam, and the Retail Knowledge Test. Do not include the current interview as part of the selection plan.
Before candidates are evaluated, it is important to base assessment methods on the logic of prediction and to use selection plans. The logic of prediction focuses on elements in applicants’ past situations that may correspond to KSAOs critical to success on the job. The selection plan involves detailing the required KSAOs and indicating which selection methods will be used to evaluate each of them. The selection sequence is the order of methods used to narrow down the initial applicant pool to candidates, then finalists, then job offer receivers.
