Should the United States develop a national healthcare plan similar to other developed countries?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The United States must develop a national healthcare plan, however this would have both pros and cons as stated below:

Pros of a Nationalised Health Care Plan-

A plan should be developed wherein the government should finance health care but the delivery of health care services should be left to the private investors so that the health care service is efficient.

The United States has a lot of opportunity as many of the citizens are uninsured or only have limited health care benefits.

The Health care costs also keep increasing year after year and thus a government aided health care plan would be beneficial to the economy and country as a whole.

The United States should adopt a national health care plan as it would reduce the cost of care and eliminate wasteful, costly bureaucracy and provide all citizens with preventive and primary care, improving the quality of care for all. Medicine must be a public service and not a business.

Cons of Health Care Plans-

1. The Government will sure give the health care plan at a subsidised rate but there would still be many individuals who will not be able to afford that too.

2. The society supports private rather than government solutions to social problems of health.

3. Health Care is after all a business and even after implementing such plans there may corrupt officials who will still want to continue with this business rather than think about the good of the general public.
