1.What type of bond holds amino acids together in a polypeptide chain?
A. Peptide Bond B. Phosphodiester Bond C. Hydrogen Bond
2.Termination of translation takes place when the ribosome reaches:
A. A primer B. The promoter C. The start codon D. A stop codon
3. Which of the following is Different between prokaryotic and eukaryotic translation?
A. tRNA brings amino acids to the ribosome B. Codon is complementary to anticodon C. Coding dictionary D. Occurs in same place as transcription
1.What type of bond holds amino acids together in a polypeptide chain?
Ans. A) Peptide bond. As proteins are polymers arranged in a linear fashion, which is formed by linking the alpha carboxyl group of one amino acid to the alpha amino group of another amino acid with a peptide bond can be also called as an amide bond. There is also loss of a water molecule during the formation of a dipeptide bond between the two amino acids occurs.
2.Termination of translation takes place when the ribosome reaches:
Ans. D) A stop codon. Termination of translation happens when the ribosome reaches a stop codon i.e
(UAA,UAG,and UGA). Ribosomes recognizes the completion of translation process, when the tRna molecules are not left to recognize the above mentioned codons.
3. Which of the following is Different between prokaryotic and eukaryotic translation?
Ans. D) Occurs in same place as transcription. For prokaryotes it is true, as both transcription and translation occurs simultaneously at one site,i.e cytoplasm. While for eukaryotes, transcription takes place first in the nucleus and is a separate process from translation which happens in cytoplasm afterwards.
