Briefly explain why prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are different. Include the description of what the difference is in each cell type.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans) As Per Cell Theory :

As per cell theory , all living cell is made up of cell i.e. cell is the basic unit of life.

All living cells are classified as Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. Except bacteria, all other life form i.e. plants , animals and humans are Eukaryotes. As compared to Eukaryotes , Prokaryotic cells are much simple in nature because they are small in size and hence , has large surface to volume ratio. It means that they can easily transport nutrients to the other parts of cell whereas , in Eukaryotes , surface to Volume ratio is small which means that there is slow diffusion of nutrients to interior of cell and hence , needs different specialized organelles to carry out the function like metabolism , transportation of chemical , etc.

1. Nuclear Body : Nuclear Body is enclosed by the nucleus membrane in Eukaryotes whereas , nuclear membrane is absent in prokaryotes.

2. In Eukaryotes , Nucleolus is present but is absent in Prokaryotic cell.

3. The cell of Eukaryotes is divided by the process of Mitosis but Prokaryotic cell divides by binary fission.

4. ETS is present in Mitochondria in Eukaryotes whereas , in Prokaryotes it takes place in cytoplasm.

explain why? In the evolution of the eukaryotic cell, these cells have key changes that include which of the following: a) These cells reproduce by copying their DNA perfectly each generation. b) They have their DNA in the nucleoid area. c) have adapted the mesosome membrane system of the prokaryote to form a nucleus and an endoplasmic reticulum. d) each new type of new eukaryote cell has its mRNA unchanged from its original mRNA,
