briefly describe and distinguish the ideologies of meritocracy (“aristocracy of talent”) and scientific racism, and its activist social movement known as “eugenics.” How do these ideologies work together to form a cohesive narrative of who, in reality, is deserving of educational and financial investments? That is, though they are not identical, how does one support the worldview of the other at very deep cultural levels or belief systems?
Meritocracy means only educated or talented class should hold powerful poistions and illiterate or non-talented people should be left out of decision making.
Scientific racism supports the idea that it is possible to sceintifically justify or prove the superiority of one race or caste over other. Eg proving that Blacka are inferior intellectuall that whites or chinese has superior IQ than americans etc.
Eugenics means the study of improving the genetic quality of the entire human population. Eg Hitler killed many individuals who were found to have low IQs or forced sterilization were done on such individuals so that they cant reproduce their kind.
All these ideologies though different beleive in superiority over one another, and ultimately claim that if the individual is superior in talent, sceintifically or genetically he may be made more powerful than the average population or inferior ones and may be deserving more educational and finalcial investments.
Its important to note that these may not be correct as our world is running on its diversity, anything different is unique and more interesting, more of a superior kind will only make us less diverse and plain boring.
