1) Most cells are capable of____________
a) pinocytosis
b) phagocytosis
- Can you explain this?
Ans-1)phagocytosis
Explaination:Phagocytosis is an elegant but complex process for the ingestion and elimination of pathogens, but it is also important for the elimination of apoptotic cells and hence fundamental for tissue homeostasis. Phagocytes are important throughout the animal kingdomand are highly developed within vertebrates. There are two types of phagocyte that is professional which have specific receptor while non professional which lack receptor. The monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, tissue dendritic cells and mast cells are professional phagocytes while example of non professional phagocytes are epithelial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and mesenchymal cells. As phagoctosis process along with uptake of solid food particles play a very important part in cellular immune response and removal of apostatic cell so most cell are capable of phagocytosis.
While pinacocytosis is a process of intaking fluids which take place in limited cells .Microvilli in the gut use this process to absorb nutrients from food. kidney cells utilized pinocytosis to separate nutrients and fluids from the urine that will be expelled from the body. As well as human egg cells utilize it to absorb nutrients prior to fertilisation.
