Explanation: Proteins are made up of amino acids. The metabolism of protein took place by different anabolic and catabolic pathways. The monomer unit of protein is amino acid and these amino acid are end up with different enzymatic reaction and form different end products. The most common end product of protein metabolism is ammonia and creatine. The protein metabolism starts from the stomach. Hare the gastric juices having hydrochloric acid and enzymes start the denaturation (breaking down of secondary and tertiary folding ) of proteins. At the same time pepsin a digestive enzyme breakdown the proteins into amino acids by breaking down the peptide bonds. In the stomach, proteins break down into polypeptides and in the small intestine, these broken polypeptides are attacked by other enzymes found in pancreatic and intestinal juices. After that, the protein is converted into its monomer units i.e amino acids and these amino acids are further utilized in the various cycle Urea cycle, glycolysis, citric acid cycle etc. The end product of the protein metabolism is ammonia, urea, uric acid, and creatinine which comes out from the body with urine or feces.
