Which of the molecules is the most/least soluble in water: 1-chloropentane, 1-pentanol, 1-propanol

Solutions

Expert Solution

. Amyl chloride appears as a clear colorless to light-brown liquid with an aromatic odor. Flash point may vary from 35 to 54°F. Less dense than water and insoluble in water.

1-pentanol is a colourless liquid of density 0. 8247 g/cm3 (0 oC), boiling at 131. 6 oC, slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents. It possesses a characteristic strong smell and a sharp burning taste.

1-propanol =The first three alcohols (methanol, ethanol, and propanol) are fully miscible in water because of the strength of the attraction at the OH group

So last one is least soluble and 1st one is most soluble

NOTE =THESE ARE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, NEED TO REMEMBER
