Salmonella is a gram negative bacteria.where they reside on host in the intestine . They cause the gastrointestinal infection leading to cause of food poisoning. The source of infection of bacteria is through food which is contaminated.where salmonella enters through food and enters in the intestinal cells by a process known as endocytosis. And infect the cell by producing endotoxins.It gets resistance against the phagocytosis process by endotoxins for example.in typhoid bacteria lipopolysaccharide is one of the endotoxins which invade the cells and binds to CD14 receptors of phagocytic cells and and resist by the nitrogen oxides or chemicals produced by host during phagocytosis which damage the cellular DNA content and rapidly increase to cause infection.

It can be grown in-vitro in media containing sulphur and it cannot withstand high temperatures.It is two type typhoid causing and non typhoid causing bacteria.
