Debate the efficacies of public versus private-based quality initiatives. What roles do each play in the quality of U.S. health care? How would the elimination of one aspect affect the other? Respond to two other classmates and counter their answer
Public based quality initiatives as compared to the private based quality initiatives: Public sector is affordable for all classes of the society. The accountability is much greater and provides equitable care. However, unnecessary tests and treatments are performed in the private sector. Whereas, the public sector is typically associated with lack of proper equipment, trained workers and medications. Private sectors are often associated with violation of medical standards of practice and poorer patient outcomes but on the other hand, they have been reported with greater timeliness and hospitality to patients. While private sectors are much more profit maximised and their incomes are much high as compared to public sectors.
However, the comparison and efficiencies with regard to one another is debatable. This is because each each system has its own strength and weaknesses and both the public and private sectors need to work hand in hand for the development of an economy like U.S. They both essentially work together to improve the safety of the patients and to take proper care. The public and private sectors in U.S works together to find treatments and do research on important neurodegenerative diseases, they essentially combine their funding to work together for a cause.
If public sector is eliminated, the private sector would ultimately be concerned with profit maximisation and not care of patients. It would prove costly for majority. Number of organisations would fail to provide rooms for populations whereas if private sector is eliminated, there would be no referral cases where the patient can be given intensive care, proper advanced treatment .
