Debate the efficacies of public versus private-based quality initiatives. What roles do each play in the quality of U.S. health care? How would the elimination of one aspect affect the other?
Both the public and private health sectors are powerful in the U.S healthcare system. Public health can be provided by the government. Private health can be provided through the non-profit and non-government organizations. The ultimate goal for both sectors is to provide high quality and safe patient care. But the U.S has facing challenges in the meeting of quality and safety care.
Private sectors are focusing on providing better health outcome whereas the public sector is focusing on reduced cost. Public sectors are trying to cover the lower class of the society and improving the quality of care. The private sector focus on the high class who covers the insurance and pay out of the pocket. It has overloading client. Evidence-based practices are necessary for proper delivering of care in both sectors.
There is no question of asking the elimination of one aspect. If either anyone is eliminated will results in poor quality of care, increased the cost of healthcare, an increase of fake drugs, poor outcomes of the patient, increased length of stay of the hospital, and overstaffing. Both the public and private health sector work together in collaboration in providing of evidenced-based care. They should contain regulatory policies in providing quality care and appropriate training to the providers. For example, National Institute of Health and National Institute of Aging combine together to create Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative.
