it is The process of planning ,implementing and controlling the efficient cost –effective flow of raw material in process inventory finished goods and related information from the point of customer receipt to the point of origin to recapture value or appropriate disposal reverse logistics is the process moving goods from their typical final destination to resale in another maket refurbishment and remanufacturing.if no goods or materials are being sent backwards the aactivity probably is not an example of reverse logistics .for the most of us in retail reverse logistics include processing return merchandise as a reult of damage seasonal inventory restock salvage recalls and excess inventory .however it also include recycling programs hazardous material programs and obsolete equipment disposition under hue competitive pressure the retail industry has used return polices as a competitive weapon .the great depression the more innovative solution within the retails industry it appears indeed.
Retail industry is the first focus on problems of returns and develop reverse logistics innovation called reclamation centres it lead to the establishment of centralised centres.

Practical implication:
If the merchandise is defective, the buyer would return the product. The manufacturing firm would then have to organise shipping or reverse channel for the defective product, testing the product, dismantling, repairing, recycling or disposing the product. The product travel in reverse through the supply chain network to the manufacturer side in order to retain any use from the defective product. Large retailers are investing more in reverse logistics than manufactures. Retailers are quick to service their clients by accepting returns and sending products through reverse logistics
Charge for back for offset expenses without taking the time to investigate the return
But as a manufacturer have to answer the following question; is that our product, How long was it used? How old is the material? What is the defect,can it be resold,incentivize salesman to find place to sell return.
Some niche vendors provides software or service specifically to handle return
Definitely it would be dark corner of the warehouse as it piled with returns. But it can be manageable with right technology and processes
Need for reverse logistics is important.the return processing,repair and replacement of products have a huge impact on customer satisfaction.
