This question is from Indian Economics
After the reform period in 1991 which was targetted to decrease the poverty in India and increase the economic development , several positive changes came in India. According to the world bank surveys , the most important aspect of economic development which was urban growth , was achived rapidly and it was a great contributor for India's economic growth. The poverty was the another major concern of the reform which also declined significantly after the reforms. The negative thing that began after the reforms was the inequality in the income sector, and the non income indicators like schools and hospitals aslo displayed huge inequality. The urban population risen after the reforms , their was growth in secondary and tertiary sectors but everything was moderated y the inequality betwen the rich and the poors that increased vastly. The main reasons for inequality is migration of people from rural agricultural to urban industrial sectors. The inequalities icreased not only in the income sector but often in the labour market and the gender gaps also increased. The inqualities between gender is one of the mopst important problem in India. The number of female school dropouts are more than men Work pariticipation of women is comparatively low. The other category of inequality includes the caste discrimination. People belonging to lower castes are exploited.
