Antibiotic resistance in bacteria occurs because ___.

Group of answer choices

antibiotic exposure triggers mutations in bacteria

human cells become immune to the effects of the antibiotics over time

bacteria mutate in order to become resistant

antibiotic use kills bacteria which are not resistant, leaving resistant bacteria to reproduce

Solutions

Expert Solution

ANSWER::

c) bacteria mutate in order to become resistance

Explanation::

Antibiotics are chemical drugs which are used to kill or inhibit bacteria or microbes present in our body (which causes infection). Sometimes bacteria are not killed or inhibited by antibiotics because they have ability to escape or neutralize the effects of the antibiotics.In our body good and bad both bacteria are present.. most bacteria are susceptible to the chemical drugs or antibiotics...when antibiotic given to the infected person there is possibility to killed off susceptible bacteria but may multiplication and reproduction occur in another bacteria( bad/ disease causing bacteria) called antibiotics resistance bacteria.

After one or more doses of antibiotics, the bacteria become more and more resistant to that antibiotics because if small quantity of antibiotics( left) present in the body, they will able to mutate and copy that resistance gene ( code of DNA) as result genetic material of resistance bacteria may change and become more resistant to the antibiotics.The next generation of bacteria or microbes after reproduction become resistant to antibiotics and more dangerous to the infected people because the present antibiotics for that infection not able to kill or inhibit bacterial growth.So we have always take precautions to complete antibiotics dose to kill all bacteria of that disease if any bacteria left ,it will become resistant to the antibiotics and the mutuated bacteria not destroyed after second time from that antibiotics.

Human cells are not immune to antibiotics ,its the bacteria cells immune to that antibiotics because they mutate every time after exposure of new antibiotics, as they have ability to killed susceptible bacteria and reproduction in resistant bacteria ..

So , antibiotics resistant bacteria occur due to mutation in bacteria
