Let us first understand what is CSR?
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a self-regulating business model that helps a company be socially accountable—to itself, its stakeholders, and the public. By practicing corporate social responsibility, also called corporate citizenship, companies can be conscious of the kind of impact they are having on all aspects of society, including economic, social, and environmental.
Now let us talk about the CSR spend of Nike,
Nike is the most popular brand in the sports shoe and apparel industry. In the past, Nike faced several controversies related to child labor and ethics in its supply chain. However, in recent years, it has invested a lot in CSR and sustainability.
Nike made several changes aimed at improving its image worldwide. These investments have started bearing results and that is evident in its improved financial and operational performance. In both the areas of CSR and sustainability, Nike has achieved several major milestones.
Also upon the study of the Nike Sustainabilty Report we come across some of these points with respect to whether the CSR is Global or domestic in a nutshell,
1. They Focused on the Broad Economic and Environmental Problems not considering the Geographical boundaries as a whole, the boundaries were never a constraint.
2. Focuses on the global supply chain rather than just being domestic
