How can states’ domestic politics be shaped by their interactions with other states or international actors (e.g. NGOs/TANs, MNCs, IOs, etc.)? What is the nature of this influence (e.g. material capabilities or ideas) and which factors are most important?
Ans) The effects of state domestic politics by the interection of other states can be reflected in the foreign policy of the state. The foreign policy tends to shift over time based on the actions of other nations .An extremely wealthy nation has more influence in the foreign policy than less developed nations and that country can shift the balance towards more support for certain countries or group of countries.Sometimes it is seen that the foreign policies can affect the domestic sentiments as well as they also effect the domestic interest .The change in the US foreign policy after 9/11 affected the domestic politics and foreign policy of other states as well there was a group of countries joined US for war against terror and deployed there troops in Afganisthan and IRAQ although three were some disagreement in UK and European union but as again the domestic policy is influenced. The nature of influence in domestic politics can be getting military ,financial support as Pakistan got huge military aid for war in Afganisthan or the influence can be cultural, religious and ethnic as US and Isreal have close cultural ties and less of material in nature although US gives financial as well as military support to Isreal .The factors that are most important are : long term factors such as developing mutual long term agreement in trade and non military intervention in areas of mutual interest as well as to gain global advantage as in case India wants a membership in Security council it has to consider who will support her for this and device a foreign policy for that.On the other hand foreign policy can be used to gain the economic benefits and advantages.
