Are we responsible for eliminating poverty in the U.S.? 75 word or more
Yes, we are responsible for eliminating poverty in the US.
In many cases being poor is a personal choice, but a choice which is encouraged by the current economic systems and regulations. An able person being unemployed in a good job market is a matter of choice made by the individual. However, it can also be due to other reasons such as availability of social security benefits for all which includes people who are even qualified, educated, physically and mentally good and stable. These schemes allow the individuals to bank on the support from the government and / or the charitable institutions thereby not encouraging them to earn living by working.
We along with the government should provide job opportunities to the people of all sorts, classes, age groups, castes etc. so that they can earn a living for themselves and not be dependent on the programs or schemes. Also, such schemes should be focused on those who do not have the capability to work so that only the unfortunates receive the benefits.
