1) Using examples, define and describe roles, role expectations and role conflict.

• Roles: this is the comprehensive behavior patterns that will be recognised socially such that there would be provision of means such that an individual would be placed in a society as well as identified by the society. Example the role of a father.
• Role expectations: role expectations are the behaviors that would be expected from a person when they are present in a particular role in the society. For example: role expectation of a father is that he is supposed to provide for the family.
• Role conflict: this would take place when the demands placed on a person would be incompatible and difficult to be complied to. This would happen when a person would be finding themselves in two different directions as they would be trying to respond to the different positions that they would be holding. For example: a Student is also a brother whose sibling has his birthday party at night and he would also have to study for a test that he has tomorrow.
