Descibe what constitutes lymphatic system? And what is the lymph composed of?
Lymphatic system consists of lymph, organs like those containing lymphoid tissue, lymph nodes, ducts and lymph vessels etc. Lymph nodes are small, soft structures occuring in clusters in body regions like armpits, groin, neck etc.
Lymph is derived from the Roman deity lympha. Not much was known about lymph composition until recently majorly due to technical reasons. As interstitial fluid is where lymph is picked it has a lot of similar components as those of blood plasma. It has got water, lymphocytes, proteins and fats from intestinal chyle, minerals, salts, enzymes, amino acids, creatinine, clotting factors etc.
