Expert Solution

Answer-1- Misdiagnosis of mental illness may be very dangerous for the patients. The life of the patient who is misdiagnosed may become more difficult. The medication or therapies, they get after misdiagnosis may be very harmful for them and make the situation worst. Their recovery is generally postponed because they get wrong treatment. A person with mental illness may lose his hope of recovery when he come to know about misdiagnosis. Sometimes people are so frustrated that they give up their treatment. The main reason of misdiagnosis of mental illness is the improper training of psychiatrists. Sometimes the therapists misdiagnose the patient on the basis of his attitude and behaviour. Misdiagnosis may increase the abnormal behaviour because the patient is not getting proper treatment for it. This is very dangerous for a patient's present and future life.

If a patient doubts that he has been misdiagnosed , he should question to his doctor and should try to get the satisfactory answer. If he is not satisfied with his present doctor, he should consult with another psychiatrist about his disease because taking wrong medication will be very harmful. The treatment will be uneffective in case of misdiagnosis. So it would be very beneficial to consult with another psychiatrist to get the accurate treatment for a particular disease.
