What are two differences in the process of gene expression between prokaryotes and eukaryote and why?
The gene expression is the conversion of the genetic code in DNA inside the cell into proteins through the process of transcription of DNA to mRNA and further conversion of mRNA into proteins through translation. The two main differences in the gene expression between the prokaryote and eukaryote is that: Prokaryotes doesn't have a defined nucleus and hence the transcription and translation occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell whereas in eukaryotes, the transcription occurs in the nucleus and translation occurs in cytoplasm. The other difference is that in Prokaryotes is that there are no histone proteins and also no post translational or post transcriptional modifications whereas in eukaryotes post translational and post transcriptional modifications are there and also histone proteins are present. Hence the regulatory activity is more in eukaryotes than in prokaryote. These are the main difference between gene expression of prokaryote and eukaryote.
