How many ml of 0.100M NaOH solution are required to neutralize 15.0 ml of 0.200M H3PO4?

How many ml of 0.100M NaOH solution are required to neutralize 15.0 ml of 0.200M H3PO4?

Solutions

Expert Solution

   3NaOH + H3PO4 -----------> Na3PO4 + 3H2O

   3 moles    1 mole

NaOH                                                       H3PO4

M1 = 0.1M                                                  M2 = 0.2M

V1   =                                                           V2   = 15ml

n1   = 3                                                       n2   = 1

            M1V1/n1    =     M2V2/n2

              V1            =    M2V2n1/M1n2

                               = 0.2*15*3/0.1*1    = 90ml

volume of NaOH = 90ml
