You will complete a Quality Improvement Report after identifying a deficiency in the workplace or home environment and developing a plan to address the issue(s). The self-selected location and short overview of the deficiency will be submitted to the instructor for approval in Week 2. Using various components of the Total Quality Management (TQM) Philosophy, students will create a plan that serves the purpose of demonstrating knowledge and understanding of TQM tools, techniques, and processes and how to apply them appropriately to a demonstrated deficiency. The report will also prepare students to communicate in a professional setting.
Total Quality Management (TQM) is a broad structure for attaining average growth in buyer pleasure. It is a belief of the overall combination of the firm to attain the needed result. The purpose is to reach appreciable order and success, bottom working cost, and raised trade share. Tools of TQM are Scatter Plots, Control Charts, Pareto Principle, Flow Charts, Fishbone, Ishikawa Diagram, Cause and Effect, Histogram or Bar Graph, Check Sheets, Check List. The techniques or principles of Total Quality Management are Customer focus, Process approach, Integrated system, Total employee commitment, Strategic and systematic approach, Continual improvement, Communications, Fact-based decision-making. A key focus of total quality management (TQM) states that management greets to long-term victory by buyer content. In a TQM attempt, all organs of a firm involved in growing processes, services, commodities, and the culture in which they effort.
