As an experienced engineer, suggest two (2) alternatives to reduce the electrical usage and cost for air ducting unit . The alternative suggested should comprise one (1) technical modification and one (1) human feature.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Electrical Usage:

  1. Studies show that heating, ventilating and air conditioning account for 30 percent of the energy used in the average home or small business. In larger buildings, heating and air conditioning can account for almost half of the monthly energy bill.
  2. Sealing and insulating ducts increases efficiency, lowers your energy bills, and can often pay for itself in energy savings.

Air ducting unit:

  1. system balancing is always recommended to get the full benefit from the total cost incurred on air conditioning system.
  2. Large air conditioning systems require optimization of the duct design so as to minimize the total cost, which includes the initial cost of the system and the lifetime operating cost. At present very sophisticated commercial computer software are available for optimizing the duct design. One such method is called as T-Method.
  3. As the cost of ducting reduces the usage of power comes down which leads to reduces the pollution in environment which gives a comfortable life to future generation of human.

Consider an economy with trade deficit. The policymakers are considering two alternatives to reduce the deficit: fiscal policy and exchange rate policy (changing the exchange rate). Explain how each policy would be implemented. What would be the effects of each type of policy intervention on the output level? Illustrate your answers by the Keynesian cross-net export diagrams.

UA wants to reduce water usage on campus by installing low-flow faucets and toilets.  There are two alternatives, both of which give the same benefits.  The first is to install equipment made by Company A at a cost of $10 million today and $1 million in maintenance costs per year for 15 years.  The second alternative is to install Company B’s equipment that costs $4 million today and $2 million in maintenance costs per year for 20 years. UA always needs to have...

Two mutually exclusive alternatives are bring considered: A and B. Both alternatives cost $1,200 at the present. However, the pattern of revenue from them is different. Alternative A has the potential to bring more revenues later in the project life. The expected revenues of alternative A are: $350, $500, and $850 by the ends of years one to three, respectively. Alternative B promises more immediate cash inflow which is expected to diminish with time: $750, $300, and $100 by the...
