Organizations such as Macy’s and Walmart are trying to entice technology workers to look at their companies as an employer of choice for technology workers. Retail establishments are under intense pressure to ensure they are up-to-date in the technology they use to offer their products to their customers. How can a non-typical employer for technical or other employment, such as a retailer, entice educated and/or trained individuals to come to their companies? What strategic steps can they take to ensure a pool of talented employees is taking their operations forward?
To create an environment where the technical employee will be interested to join and work for the retail companies, these companies must embrace and integrate technologies into the business process. It is important to mention that there are retail stores that still use traditional systems that do not attract technical employees. The top technologies that can be integrated into the retail stores include artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, facial recognition, sensor data, analytics, omnichannel retail and digital marketing.
The strategic steps that can be used by the retailers to attract talented employees include the development of an inclusive and diverse workforce; bringing options fo bonuses and incentives for the employees with better performance, implementation of democratic leadership style which empowers the employees to make decisions, motivating the employees so that they can perform better and increase the productivity.
