Explain the process by which government officials (governor, members of the legislative council, and members of the house of representatives) gain their positions (through elections, appointments, etc.). Do these methods seem reasonable to you? Explain.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Position of different govt officials :-

1)Governor :

Governor is directly appointed by the president and confirmed by senate. He/she should be the citizen of that particular country and should meet the minimum age requirement.

2)Members of legislative council :-

These members are called Alderman, or coucilmen. They are elected by the residents of a district. The city's mayor presides over coucil member.

3)Members of the house of representatives:-

These members are elected by those eligible voters who are residing in the congressional district which the candidate is going to represent.

Those who wins gets the highest number of votes among all the competitors which doesn't necessarily means the majority of the votes being given to the winner. Votes can be spread to multiple candidates.

These methods are fairly reasonable because of various factors that are taken care of in the constitution.

The election clause in the constitution regulates elections for the US and It grants and empowers states of each level of government the authority to safeguard and protect certain rights and enact a complete code for elections and to make sure that the election process is conducted without any fraud , inact rules concerning certain notices etc.
