Some people argue that reptiles (i.e. Snakes, crocs, etc.) make great pets. From what you have learned about the nervous systems, scientifically discuss whether their argument is true or not true. Be sure to discuss brain structure and function. You may want to compare nervous systems of more common pets (i.e. dogs, cats, etc.).

ANSWER -

THE ABOVE GIVEN ARGUMENT IS NOT TRUE

The reason are not only the differences in the neural and brain structure but also the behavioural pattern differences which occurs due to different brain patterns at first

the above mentioned animals which consist specifically reptiles consisting of snakes and crocodiles are not considered as great pets because they are violent in nature, also they are carnivorous and are dangerous to the human beings.

along with these, the study have shown that, the reptiles can not survive captivity, 7 to 8 months of captivity may lead to death of the pet as they become more violent in such scenario due to changing brain pattern. snake and other reptiles need space and freedom and are not in their instincts to be living in human captivity.

also, there are these species of animals which can not be tamed and these include reptiles and carnivores

on other hand dogs and cats do feel a bond with the humans with whom they are living, dogs more specifically, but the snakes and reptiles do not form a bond with their owners, does not matter how long you keep them with you , they are always a threat and can be lethal to the owner.

to understand such behavioural patterns of dogs and snakes, in comparison, researchers find that the domesticated animals do have a developed brain region where the emotions are build up, where connections are formed, while the pets which can not be domesticated they donot have such regions in them, and thus it becomes harder for a pet to make them understand human bonds.

if we look into wild, we will see that reptiles are not even friends of their own species, while other carnivorous can be , like a lion and its group knows how to protect themeselves and how to live together, they even hunt in group, but a reptile , a snake never lives in group, never hunt in group and never make any kind of connection with any animal nearby. for them living in isolation and hunting in isolation is the best they can do. and it is because of the under developed connections of their brain regions which are mostly a bit better developed in case of domesticated animals.

also, the environment in which these reptiles lives, is hard for a human to create them in their houses, and reptiles do require special care , if even petted.also, snakes and crocodiles are the most dangerous predators, they know how to break themselves from the capitivity. they can sense danger even before a human can, and have developed other sensory organs like thermal vision and other organs like sharp teeths in crocodiles, which makes them more lethal and natural predators.thus , it is not wise to pet them, as it leads to a lot of complications.

this is the brief description of the above asked question
