how it impacts the Amyloid plaques
Impact of amyloid plaques:
Amyloid plaques are a collection of protein which altered structural intergrity. This plaques are a characteristic in the development of Alzheimer's disease. The aggregation of these proteins in the cortical region of the brain play a profound role in the development of Alzheimers disease.
Usually,
and
secretase which are the enzymes which are involved in the
breakdown of amyloid precursors and make these precursors into a
soluble form so that they are not formed into the plaques.
But in case of Alzheimer's Disease, an enzyme
secretase comes into play which it gets complex with the
secretase to form an insoluble mass or monomer called the
amyloid monomer. This formed monomer then binds to the exterior of
the neurons and leads to the development of amyloid plaques. This
again will result in the hindering of the neuronal signaling and
impairs cognition.
