What happens to an inventor within an organization, whose invention is not successfully commercialized? Have you seen examples?
An inventor find something new or introduce something for the first time. An invention happens accidently, by chance or after a long period of painful failures in different modes. Inventor might be thinking that his work may be stolen. So the first step is formalised intellectual property rights.
But companies takes idea which are successful merchandise only. So the concerns that someone's invention is not being commercialised by his organisation is a wrong notion. When somebody is creating a new idea, he must also see that he is working along with a reliable organization and is able to convince it about successful marke of his idea.
We know that self motivated employees are assets of a firm. An inventor would have spent his lot of energy and time with his invention. So he will be sad when his creativity is not popularised by his organisation. Hence the chances are high that his commitment to the organisation loses when his/her invention is not commercialised.
However exceptions are there who feel that commercialisation is not the final aim, rather satisfaction from using by people. These kind of inventors succeed and will come up with new ideas. I have seen one of UG professor in my college whose inventions was not recognised in the institute. But he did not mind it and could cone up another invention. So it is the mind of inventor which need to be under control!
