There is a long history of psychologists commenting on current events. Consider the evolution of Noam Chomsky's work over the years. Imagine if Maslow applied his work to the international or political news of the day. Identify a current event apply Maslow's theoretical approach in a commentary.
Indian Prime Minister has emerged as the most tweeted about world leader after US President Donald Trump according to recent figures.
The following may be considered as possibilities of the above having happened, based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs:
The leaders could attain such a victory in social media due to their basic needs for food, water, etc being met. Their security needs are met through staying under well-protected shelters and having constant scope for escape from any kinds of danger due to tight security being ensured. Their social needs are met through their very sustenance on Twitter at the top, which is indicative of the strength of their communications and connections with people. Such connections pave the way for their esteem needs being met through the people who make them feel a sense of empowerment by offering constant praise and acknowledgment. They are, therefore, already on the path of having their self-actualization needs being fulfilled from time to time, which is evident from being the top most tweeted around world leaders, which is a sign of their humanitarian services successfully reaching the people they serve.
