Design a flow cytometry experiment (Step by step) to test the effect of fish oil on neutral killing cells. Explain in details (Add references if needed)
Flow cytometry is a biophysical technology used in cell counting or cell sorting etc. with the help of a laser beam. Cells in a suspension are passed through a narrow nozzle which mostly allows a single cell to pass though. Laser beam is used to detect and count the cell number. Biochemical studies showed the decrease in Natural Killer cells (NK cells) by increasing the fat intake (fish oil).
Flow cytometry experiment steps are as follows:
1) Taking the blood sample from people taking fish oil and not taking fish oil.
2) Isolation of NK cells from blood.
3) Labelling the cells with MitoTracker Green FM (mitochondrial labelling dye).
4) Observing different samples through flow cytometry.
5) Counting the cell number and comparing the cell numbers in non-treated and treated group.
