SAP stands for System Application Products. SAP is one of the vendors of ERP. ERP means enterprise resource planning which is an integrated information system that serves all department within an enterprise. SAP started in 1972 by five former IBM employees , Mannheim Germany.

The importance of SAP software for industrial system process in the modern economy as follows:

a) It avoid data and operation redundancy

b) SAP holds global outreach

c) Reduction in cost

d) SAP helps in functional works in Finance & Control, Production planning, Material management, Sales & distribution, Human Resources , Quality management etc

e) SAP also helps in techincal things like ABAP(Advanced business application programming), BIW(Business information warehousing ) etc

f) SAP helps in supply chain management(SCM), Customer relationship management(CRM) , Product life cycle(PLC) management etc.

g) SAP promotes good supplier relationship, better inventory management etc
