"Variables" and "Samples" are mentioned quite regularly in the process of data-gathering. Why are they so important to a researcher and what significance do they play in reporting, distorting, or manipulating outcomes... THEN... Three, why is this important to the understanding of social issues and society at large in regards to outcome data and application of science to understand the social world?
Variable and sample are the main crux of the statistics study. Sample is the population or the people upon which the study bis being conducted. There are many kinds of sampling such as simple random sampling, stratified sampling, cluster sampling. Depends upon the population the type of sampling is being chosen. For eg.if the researcher wants to study effect of energy drink on girls and boys, and if girls are more. Then he would vuae stratified sampling such as chose equal no. Of girls and boys randomly.
Whereas variables is the study topic of the researcher. If a researcher wants to know effect of complan or Horlicks on a child. Then he would measures child's strength which is dependent variable and would try different types of products which are independent variable. Independent variable can be altered or changed. Whereas dependant variable are the ones upon which the study is being conducted.
It is important to understand science behind the social issues. For eg: in Maharashtra a state of India there is huge problem of reservations made against certain castes. Why this problem has arose, there is science behind that? Why are certain people given free education, it is not just becase of their current situations but situations which have persisited since generations. Their total community needs a better standard of living. For all these reasons since of application must be studied in order to understand the real reason
