Explain the relationship between an organization’s context and its management of risks and opportunities within a 14001-based EMS. Describe at least three types of information that managers should obtain from the organization’s context that should be included as part of the EMS, and identify the specific clauses of 14001 where this information would be needed.
The set of both internal and external business environment factors that help an organization strategise its procedures, policies and goals define the Organizations context and thus becomes very important for an organization to identify risks and find ways to plan on their prevention and mitigation.
Based on these factors and based on the Organization's context an approach is defined and the paths lying within the context of organization become the opportunities for them.
3 types of information important for managers which are included in EMS are:
* The proper hierarchy of the Organization. So as to understand the chain of responsibility.( This is important to understand the Leadership clause of 14001)
* The training plan should be defined in the EMS, so that employees can be trained to follow the right procedures and policies by managers. ( This is important to understand the Support clause of 14001)
* The performance metrics and KPI's should be defined in the EMS. ( This is important to understand the Performance Evaluation of 14001)
