Answer:- The advantages and disadvantages of Oman mixed culture on innovation and entrepreneurship according to Hofstede cultural dimensions are:-
Hofstede cultural perspectives |
Advantages |
Disadvantages |
1) Power Distance Index(PDI) |
Oman is high in power distance with males leaders when compared with females leaders. So, if the entrepreneur is, male then his position is considered very high and his decisions are followed by everyone. |
As there is inequality between the male and female and this can create a barrier in the flow of ideas. |
2) Individualism vs. collectivism |
Oman is high in collectivism which helps the entrepreneur to come up with positive results from the entire community. |
All the ideas are shared with everyone so there is a risk of losing intellectual property. |
3) Uncertainty avoidance |
Oman is quite high in uncertainty avoidance where the entrepreneurs are very careful in making any decisions and this helps in getting good financial support from the investors |
If the decisions do not work and make the project fail this can lead to loss of trust from the investors in the future. |
4) Masculinity vs. femininity |
Oman is neutral in this as now even women are allowed to go to school and actively participate in the workplace. This helps the entrepreneur to make use of both and distribute the task equally. |
Although women are given equal chance however they are supposed to be more modest and men are mostly at the top leaders so there is still a restriction of ideas flow. |
5) Indulgence vs. restraint |
Oman is very high in restraint which can help the entrepreneur with ethical leadership in the business. |
Because of strict social norms, it can create a limitation to the business. |
