The term "Development" can be understood as a process in which we strive to achieve a better position than what we currently are.we want growth, improvement, postive changes, more qualified standard of living in our life.Development goals may vary from person to person as it depends upon their current status.People set their goals to achieve newer heights. There are 3 main core values of Development that forms the very soul, sum and substance of this concept. Its a gradual process which is not temporary. It continues until the civilization exists on this earth. Those 3 core values are mentioned below:-

  • 'Sustenance'-This term seems to have derived from the term sustain which means to exist presently and in the future too.As per this value whatever consists our developmental goals, that should be achieved in the present and that should exist and continue in the future too.Sustainable development means that the process should be such that it satisfies our current needs and wants and should do same for the coming future generations too.Basically we aim to achieve and ensure food, shelter, clothing, health and protection for us through development process. This value of sustenance says that this must be available presently and should continue in the future too.We should move ahead that current status.
  • 'Self-Esteem'-This term includes the sense of worth, recognition, self respect for every individual being.Every human being as a person has a body, soul and mind, that considers itself as a distinguishable unit from this existence or the materialistic world, which has a feeling of dignity inside which expects respect and dignity from its surrounding, respect for his thoughts, behaviour, actions etc. This is an integral part of development and can only be achieved through it.As we move closer towards our developmental goals,we start feeling this and the surrounding too starts acting as per this.Without this every accomplishment is null and void.
  • 'Freedom'-This is once again a very generalised concept of this nature and universe where every organism strives to achieve and thus it forms a very crucial part of the development goals. It includes the freedom from slavery, servitude, the freedom of speech and expressions, movements etc.It means that we are not under the control of some others and are not bound by their actions. We are free to take our own decisions for our betterment and well-being.The freedom to act, freedom from inequality, poverty, hardships etc.It teaches us to become self dependent. The ultimate goal of development is human freedom&development which is vital for achieving our capabilities and realising rights.Development paves the path and guides us to do so.This provides us the right to choose, participate in decision making process that affects our life and much more.
