Behavior genetics is the scientific research to find out how genetics and environment affects an individual's behavior, bu using genetic methods. This perspective is very close to the nature and nurture debate. Behavior genetics is very close to two perspective of psychology; Biological and behavioral perspective. Biological perspective says that human behavior is the result of biological factors whereas behavioral says the environment plays an huge role in shaping the human behavior.

Behavioral genetics is entirely different from the two perspectives of psychology; Psychodynamic and cognitive perspective. Psychodynamic perspective stress on childhood behavior and repressed desires in shaping the behavior of a person whereas cognitive perspective emphasizes on thoughts means our thoughts determine our behavior.

Evolutionary perspective in itself is a one of the perspective used to study the behavior. It says that our behavior is adaptation of the behaviors which helped us to survive in the Past.
