Expert Solution

A Project is a temporary, unique and progressive attempt or endeavor made to produce some kind of a tangible or intangible result (a unique product, service, benefit, competitive advantage, etc.). It usually includes a series of interrelated tasks that are planned for execution over a fixed period of time and within certain requirements and limitations such as cost, quality, performance, others. A project is something that is planned, contemplated or devised to carry out or meet a certain.

A project that is performed in parallel is one that can be performed in any order with no regard to the order in which tasks are carried out. An example of a project performed in parallel would be when a person sits down to pay their bills. It does not matter in what order the bills are paid unless they are due at different times of the month, but if all bills are due to be paid on the 15th of every month, the order in which you pay the bills will not matter. Another example of a task that can be performed in parallel includes going grocery shopping. There is no mandated order in which you must seek the items on your list. A person can shop on any isles as they wish to accumulate their needed supplies. The ultimate goals is to gather all of their items and as long as it is accomplished, the task can be completed in any order.

Projects that need to be performed sequentially are ones in which the order does matter, this can include many things. For example, before baking a cake, you must purchase the ingredients first. Before you bake the cake, you must mix all the ingredients. To frost the cake, you must have baked the cake, otherwise there will be nothing to frost. Another example of a task performed in sequential order would be computer homework on the computer using Microsoft Excel. Prior to working on the computer, the computer must be on, and prior to completingan assignment in Excel, one must have the program software downloaded totheir computer. You cannot use excel with the computer turned off, and youalso cannot use Excel if you do not have the software/program downloaded to the computer you are using. If you do not power the computer on and then ensure the program is downloaded, then you cannot complete the task of doing homework. Another example can be playing a video game with different areas and you go to next area if and only if you successfully cross the previous area.
