Generally, the karyotype of a female is 46, XX and that of the male is 46, XY. The gonads in each female and male grow according to the chromosomal organisation of XX and XY. The individual with normal autosomal and sex chromosomes have normal hormonal functioning and normal development of external genitalia.
The individual that has the Swyer syndrome has hypogonadism. The individual with this syndrome has the chromosome number as 46,XY. This means that the individual is female externally but does not have any functional gonads. The developmental stages are :
