The management potential of future administrators was rated by a panel of three judges. Each judge rated a candidate on a scale of 1 (high performance) to 6 (low performance). However before using these ratings to choose a candidate, the firm wanted to check the reliability of the raters to see if there was a difference between the ratings of the judges. The data are included below. Many times one judge will be stricter on his/her rating of a candidate’s potential. Test to see if the individual ratings by all the judges are the same or if at least one is different from the others.

Candidate Rater 1 Rater 2 Rater 3
A 4.5 4.5 5.0
B 2.5 4.5 4.5
C 5.0 3.0 4.0
D 4.0 4.5 4.5
E 1.5 2.0 4.5
F 3.5 4.5 4.5
G 4.0 4.0 4.0

A person tried by a 3-judge panel is declared guilty if at least 2 judges cast votes of guilty. Suppose that when the defendant is in fact guilty, each judge will independently vote guilty with probability 0.7, whereas when the defendant is in fact innocent, this probability drops to 0.2. If 70 percent of defendants are guilty, compute the conditional probability that judge number 3 votes guilty given that (a) judges 1 and 2 vote guilty; (b) judges 1 and...

Suppose you wanted to evaluate the performance of the three judges in Smallville, Texas: Judge Adams, Judge Brown, and Judge Carter. Over a three-year period in Smallville, Judge Adams saw 26% of the cases, Judge Brown saw 33% of the cases, and Judge Carter saw the remainder of the cases. 3% of Judge Adams’ cases were appealed, 6% of Judge Brown’s cases were appealed, and 9% of Judge Carter’s cases were appealed. Suppose you wanted to evaluate the performance of the three judges in Smallville, Texas: Judge Adams, Judge Brown, and Judge Carter. Over a three-year period in Smallville, Judge Adams saw 26% of the cases, Judge Brown saw 34% of the cases, and Judge Carter saw the remainder of the cases. 3% of Judge Adams’ cases were appealed, 6% of Judge Brown’s cases were appealed, and 9% of Judge Carter’s cases were appealed. Noodles and Company tested consumer reaction to two spaghetti sauces. Each of 70 judges rated both sauces on a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best) using several taste criteria. To correct for possible bias in tasting order, half the judges tasted Sauce A first, while the other half tasted Sauce B first. Actual results are shown below for “overall liking.” Sauce A: 8, 1, 9, 7, 6, 2, 5, 6, 6, 5, 8, 5, 7, 6, 5, 6, 8,...

Three capacitors of 10muF, 25muF, and 50 muF are connected in series. Each capacitor is rated for 24V operation. is it safe to apply a total of 24V x 3=72 across their combination? If not safe, what is the maximum voltage that can be supplied across their combination so that the voltage drops across any of the three capacitors will not exceed their rated voltage of 24V?
