On their first day of work, a new employee's perception of the workplace is affected by three factors of perception, for each...
Part1: Name and define each factor.
Part2: For each factor, give an example of how that factor could affect the new employee's perception of the workplace.
Factors in perceiver:-
• Attitude, motives, interests, expectations etc of the perceiver
have an impact on her or his reality.for example you perceive
policemen to be authoritative, you will perceive them as such, no
matter how helpful they are. Other example , as a new employee he
might assume someone selfish nature and decide that he will keep
distant himself from that person.
Factors in target
• characteristics of the target we observe can affect how we
perceive. For example:- Loud people are more likely to be noticed in
a group than quiet ones. Another example:- Extremely attractive or
unattractive people are also noticed faster. Similarly,
relationship of the
target to its background also influences our perception.
Factors in the target:-
• The time at which we see an object or event can influence our
attention, as can location, lighting, heat etc. So for new employee
he will start observating the lightning, floor tile ,washroom ,
ventilation etc. And then will make an assumption about work
place.
