How does Bandura’s modeling and behavior modification techniques apply in the classroom today?
Bandura’s theory of a ocial modelling can be successfully applied to the context of education. If students observe positive conquences resulting from certain types of behaviour, they are likely to eMate that behaviour themselves, whereas if they observe negative consequences resulting from certain types of behaviour, they are likely to avoid that behaviour. In this case, the teacher or the instructor has a huge role to play as they serve as the children’s role model.
Creating contexts that are novel and unique for the child enhance learning, as they are likely to capture the student’s attention. Students become motivated to pay attention in their class if they note that their peers are doing so as well. In addition, audiovisual instructional content can also be utilised as an alternative to traditional teaching methods. Another application of Bandura’s theory is to motivate students to develop self-efficacy or a feeling of mastery over specific skills, a concept deeply rooted in social learning. This can be achieved by building their overall self confidence and providing them constructive feedback about their performance. through confidence building and constructive feedback.
