describe the symbiotic host-microbe relationship for human microbiome and you must include the following topics
A) open/closed system, B) partner fidelity, C) transmission, and D) function in your discussion
Answer- Symbiosis is basically interaction between two individuals living together in close association with one another.
Based on kind of interaction of host with microbes the interactions can be simulated by either closed loop system or open loop system.
In closed loop system the microbe gives a feedback and this symbiotic relationship can be mutualistic or parasitic.
In open loop system the microbe doesn't respond which is related to commensalism.
Commensalism is a relationship that is beneficial to the bacteria but does not help or harm the host. Most commensal bacteria reside on epithelial surfaces that come in contact with the external environment. They are commonly found on the skin, as well as in the respiratory tract and the gastrointestinal tract.
Partner's fidelity-
The parasitic symbionts decreases fidelity.
While commensals doesn't effect fidelity.
Transmission-
These microbes may be transmitted from mother through placenta or may enter into body by ingested food.
But some parasitic symbiontsay enter through air, water or through skin damage also.
Functions-
