Analyze a health-related behavior that is considered unhealthy (smoking, unhealthy eating, drinking too much, not getting enough sleep, not exercising, avoiding health screenings. And give reasons to why people still do it. (reasons such as the Health Belief Modles).
Smoking is one of the most important unhealthy behaviours that people engage. This would mean that although people know that it’s not good for their health, they would continue to do it because they would have formed their attitude, emotions and behaviours by attaching a positive outcome with smoking. One of the most important reasons people still do that is because of peer pressure. This would mean that they would try to identify themselves with their own groups and not giving into the peer pressure may exclude them from the group. Secondly, advertisements project smoking with pride and social status which would force people to achieve it by doing it. This would mean that the advertisements would be presented or endorsed by celebrities which would make it easy to persuade. Thirdly, when people find it hard to cope with the daily lives or employment stress, they would turn their ways to negative coping strategies which would make them more prone to engage in smoking. This would mean that when people do not have any social support, they would turn their ways into negative coping strategies.
