Answer: LSD is a synthetic drug prepared from lysergic acid. The effect of this drug is stimulating and it gives pleasure to the person. However, sometimes the effect might be simply the opposite. It can provide a bad experience to the consumer. It affects the serotonin receptors of the brain which is actually responsible for controlling people's behaviour and mood.

A crack is basically a base form of cocaine. Crack gives a short-term effect but it is of high intensity. After that feeling, the smoker will get exposed to a phase of depression and anxiety and will want to have more of the drug. This drug increases heart rate and muscle spasms.

Crystal meth is a very dangerous drug. The effect of this drug is very strong. It damages the central nervous system of the person. After taking it, people feel a quick rush of euphoria. It can also create many serious psychological problems.

Ecstasy is a psychoactive drug. It is also a party drug. People feel energized and more active after taking this drug. People will also face psychological problems like depression, anxiety, empathy etc.

Heroin is a very addictive drug. It is consumed from the morphine alkaloid of an opium poppy plant. It affects the mental state of the person especially the central nervous system.

Marijuana is gathered from the Cannabis plant. After taking this drug, the person starts craving for pleasure like food. However, at times the person might feel anxious and panicked.

Answer 2: Five defense mechanisms often seen being used by enablers and co-dependent clients are

  1. Denial- This is the stage when the person doesn't accept that there is some problem with the person. For example: When the person is told that he or she has addiction issues, he or she denies.
  2. Blame- This is when the person starts putting the blame on others to escape. For example, when asked about his or her addiction, he or she puts the blame on his or her friend who introduced him or her to the drug.
  3. Regression- is something that the person use to do when he or she was a child. For example, the person starts biting his or her nails when he or she feels anxious.
  4. Acting- This is when the person acts out (maybe anger or feels romantic). They might sometimes even hurt themselves or others to feel the pain. For example, the person might hit his wife after taking the drug.
  5. Dissociation is when the person tries to detach themselves from the main issue. They separate themselves from the real world and doesn't know whats going on in life. For, example, the child is sick but the father has no clue about it since he is high on drugs all the time.
