In an experiment, the hybridization method could identify quail in one of the pâté, but the PCR method could not differentiate between different pâté samples. Why? (limit 100 words)
One of the most convenient methods for the identification of animal species in processed meat products is the examination of DNA sequences.Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) techniques are particularly suitable because even small fragments of DNA formed during heat processing of the meat can be amplified and identified.
But The PCR method could not differentiate between the different pâté samples as the amplification of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COI) is only highly useful against identification of bird, butterflies, fish and flies and not toward specific species of organisms, at current circumstance quails. Despite the fact thatPCR method failed to distinguish between pâtés, it did however provided information that our pâté samples are identified as avian. The hybridization method could identify quail on account of the fact that the quail mtDNA-CR probe is specific to mitochondrial DNA of the quail.
