As only one question is to be answered, answer of first part is given below-
As a government official in city I will try to control crime in city by using following practices.
1.Public surveillance cameras- by setting public surveillance cameras in all parts of city, I can reduce crime. It's also easy to catch the culprit if we catch him in camera. In this way the people will get afraid of commiting crime if they know that they are being watched.
2.Connecting returning prisoners to stable housing and giving them employment is also a best way to reduce crime. Because if they get a job they will not again do crime.
3. Use and expand drug courts - Drugs courts, which combine judicial supervision with substance abuse treatment is also one of the best way to control crime. I will use following practices to raise more income for city. 1.Improve collections- optimizing collection and audit processes to increase collection rates and minimize leakage. One strategy that cities have followed is introducing an amnesty program for delinquent parking tickets that waives penalties and additional fines as an incentive for motorists to pay up. 2. By creating new revenue streams- City could introduce new types of service fees, fines, and charges—and in so doing, create new sources of revenue. In general, this intervention represents the horizon for innovation across all revenue streams. For example, cities could institute new charges for the disposal of food waste. These fines would promote environmentally responsible behavior as well as create a viable revenue stream for the city. 3. Increasing number of transactions- City can also raise revenues by increasing the number of transactions through various approaches. This intervention includes expanding the sheer quantity of service offerings and assets, extending charges to a larger user base, or increasing the frequency of surveillance and inspection for selected fine sources to maximize detection of violations. Furthermore, technological advancements can aid increased surveillance. Thank you. |
