The West finally got Civilized

Introduction - There is a popular belief that whoever was technologically become strong were the civilized people. They thought that whoever exhibited few external characteristics thus living a hypocritical life were regarded as civilized. One thing the west forgot was the meaning of civilization as it is more internal than external. It’s more about how we treat people rather than how we dress, how we eat and how we act in front of others. This misunderstanding of civilization made the Western people break all the indigenous cultures and civilizations across the world.

West always used cheating as an entry point – One of the most tragic elements of the Westerners was that they held colonies across the world which itself is an uncivilized act. They made people suffer like animals, which is not a sign of civilized people. They stole all the resources from wherever they went which is not a civilized society’s characteristic. They cheated the leaders of those countries where they went with false promises. They took over those countries covertly by divide and rule principle. They were more of cheaters than rulers.

West remained Barbaric till the II World War – Most of the Western countries accepted the individualistic rights. They encouraged minimum interference from the government. When it came to the colonies, the same Western countries were very adamant not to give freedom to the colonies. They killed more people in an inhuman way to remain powerful in those countries. Their barbaric killings of people without weapons and people who fought in non-violence way were beyond imagination in today’s standards. They were acting in that way till the end of World War II. Because they had lost more people and resources and their economy during the two World Wars, they were not able to manage the colonies brutally as they used to. They knew that they were becoming powerless, so in instead of accepting their failure, they declared independence.

Hypocritical Role of Religion – Christianity, although spread love and service to humanity, supported the role of slavery. They were only worried about spreading Christianity. They never cared about telling the colonizers who practiced slavery and made people suffer. They thought their job was to spread Christianity and thus attain heaven. Church was not bold enough as Jesus who fought against slavery and stood by the poor and the downtrodden. This shoed that Christianity preached one thing and practiced another thing.

Conclusion – Civilization is about treating people in a humanistic way. Civilization is about behaving in a way that doesn’t affect anyone. Westerners lacked these characters of civilization and focused more on the external appearance, hypocritical behaviors to satisfy others and living a life for others thus losing their own self. The West became civilized only after the World War II because all the colonies that they controlled were civilized before 2000 years. That’s why people there didn’t behave arrogantly like the Westerners. They were not practicing whatever they preached. Have today’s standards of ethics to measure their behaviors, then one will know how barbaric the Westerners were.
