Module 4: Regression Analysis and Regression Models with Dummy Variables

Original Discussion Board Post*:

The original post needs to directly address the topic for that discussion. Since each discussion board topic requires your personal thoughts or research to be answered, each original post by each student will be unique and different. Answer the question in its entirety and include enough depth and information that anyone reading the post can clearly tell what it is you were thinking or doing to solve the situation. You must answer the question AND give us enough detail so that we can tell why you answered it the way you did.

In Module 4 we study another area of inferential statistics that involves determining whether a relationship between two or more numerical or quantitative variables exist. For example, a business person may want to know whether the volume of sales for a given month is related to the amount of advertising the firm does that month. Educators are interested in determining whether the number of hours a student studies is related to the student's score on a particular exam. Medical researchers are interested in questions such as, Is caffeine related to heart damage? or Is there a relationship between a person's age and his or her blood pressure? As you study Linear Regression and Correlation, post an example where these statistical techniques can be used to best serve your current or future profession

b) Use a multiple regression model with dummy variables as follows to develop an equation to account for seasonal effects in the data: Qtr1 = 1 if Quarter 1, 0 otherwise; Qtr2 = 1 if Quarter 2, 0 otherwise; Qtr3 = 1 if Quarter 3, 0 otherwise. If required, round your answers to three decimal places. For subtractive or negative numbers use a minus sign even if there is a + sign before the blank (Example: -300). If the constant...

For this discussion post, you will need to write an original post of at least 450 words. Then respond to at least two peers by Saturday. Nearly everyone knows someone with type 2 diabetes. It may be your grandfather, mother, professor, or even the young person sitting next to you. Those with type 2 diabetes often do not talk about it and may not even realize they have it. Apply information from Module 5- Cardiovascular System. For your discussion board post, list two risk factors for cardiovascular disease and briefly comment on societal impact. List two lifestyle modifications for prevention of cardiovascular disease. Respond to at least one other student's post and cite your references in APA format.

By Day 4 Individually, complete the following tasks: Post to the group discussion board your thoughts on the Add a seller and Record a book order use cases. Use the Violet UML editor (or any other design editor that allows you to post the design to the group discussion board) to create a three-layer SSD for either the Add a Seller or Record a Book Order use case. Save the SSD and label it appropriately to avoid confusion. Take a...

Your prompt for this module is: This discussion board will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of one function of the integumentary system and how it interacts with other body systems to contribute to homeostasis for the organism. Think about the functions of the integumentary system. Along with the barrier function of the skin, there are many other important functions that the integumentary system contributes to. Injury or pathology to the integumentary system often causes a potential disruption...

This week, we learn about regression analysis and regression “models’. Discuss the role of regression analysis in business by using examples of how these models might work to make predictions. In your discussion, consider the various components of the output and how it might be of value to understanding the data.
